About Us

For many years, a 27 acre parcel of overgrown foliage occupied the corner intersection of Routes 14 & 27 in Hanson (East Bridgewater). Although originally considered as a possible site for the Hanson station of the reinstated commuter rail, the land was extremely limited in its possible usage.

In 1998, Steve & Mary Beth Alexander were looking for a new location to move their 20 yr. old commercial landscaping business (Three Brother’s Landscape) from Brockton. This parcel of land was perfect for them, not only to relocate their landscape business, but to start the nursery/garden center business they had always wanted to operate.

In the spring of 1999, Meadowbrook Garden Center opened as one of the biggest retail-wholesale garden centers on the South Shore, and grew steadily for a number of years. With an extensive inventory of plants and trees, as well as a full line of hardscape materials , the garden center thrived for a number of years, accommodating over 350 landscapers, as well as countless hundreds of homeowners.

While the garden center was getting established & growing, the Alexander’s oldest son Charlie was establishing and growing their ‘mulch-blowing’ business. Although the first high speed mulch-blowing truck was originally purchased to mulch their own commercial landscape accounts, Charlie started promoting his mulch-blowing service to other landscapers and contractors, to blow-in mulch for their accounts.

Unfortunately, in late 2005, early 2006, while the mulch-blowing business kept growing, the economy, the housing market and sales at the garden center started to decline.

Now in 2008, looking at the devastating economy and other financial considerations, the Alexander’s have made the decision to limit the Meadowbrook Garden Center retail/wholesale operation to wholesale only (for possibly only this one last season), while actively promoting the mulch-blowing service part of their business.

The demand for this service has grown to such a point that Meadowbrook now has five high speed mulch-blowing trucks & crews, as well as two ‘trailer’ mulch-blowers, that landscapers can rent.

As uncertain as the future always is, Steve & Mary Beth are confident that this is the right decision, and are absolutely looking forward to working with both theirs sons to achieve their financial and business goals.
